Giving with a Grateful Heart
An Introduction for New Believers
As you begin your journey with Jesus, you’ll hear about giving and it might sound a little unfamiliar at first. But giving is a beautiful part of the Christian life. It’s not just about money. It’s about trusting God, helping others, and playing a part in what He’s doing through His church.
Three main ways the Bible teaches us to give:
A tithe simply means giving the first 10% of your income to God. This is one way we show that God comes first in our lives. It’s not a tax or a rule to fear—it’s a way to say, “God, I trust You with everything I have.”
Leviticus 27:30 “A tithe of everything... belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”
Your tithe helps keep the church running, supports ministry, and makes room for others to encounter Jesus—just like you did.
1. TITHES | Putting God First
Offerings are anything you give above your tithe. Maybe it’s for mission trips, or helping a new church get started. These gifts aren’t about amounts—they come from a generous, willing heart.
2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you’ve decided in your heart... for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Think of offerings as a way to go even further in love and generosity.

3. ALMS | Helping People In Need
Alms are when we give directly to help the poor, the struggling, or anyone going through a tough time. Jesus cared deeply for people in need—and when we give in this way, we’re following His example.
Proverbs 19:17 “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord…”
You can donate online or in church with a reference that helps to allocate your giving correctly. E.g. grocery fund for a grieving family, Apostolic Trip Contribution to contribute towards both local and international trips for the leaders and members of the church.
